A 10-year-old girl suffered serious facial injuries
when she was badly mauled by a Staffordshire bull terrier in North
Yorkshire.

Emergency crews were called to an area close to Alanbrooke Barracks at Thirsk on Thursday evening.

The girl was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough where she is due to have surgery to her cheek.

The dog’s owner, a woman aged 21, was arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control in public.
